Former captain Shakib has not played a T20I since July 2023 and was elected as a Member of Parliament for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ruling party that year.
Shakib has refused to put a curtain on his cricket career and his participation in this series is the strongest indication that he will be part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be held in the West Indies and the United States (USA) next month. will
