The former head coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri has said that any team in the world would have selected opener Shibman Gul in their squad, but he did not get a place in India.
Shibman Gill, who started his international career under Ravi Shastri, feels there is a deeper reason for dropping the batsman. Shastri said that Shibman Gul must have been hurt due to not getting a place in the Indian T20 World Cup squad.
He said that Shibman Gul will make a place in any team in the world but he could not get a place in India for T20 World Cup. He might be hurting but Shubman should look at it positively and try to get better.
The former Indian all-rounder said that a player with talent like Shibman Gill would go to any team but there is such talent in India that he did not get a place in the team.
It should be noted that the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar had announced the Indian 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup in the last week of April.
The selectors chose Yashwi Jaiswal as the opening partner of skipper Rohit Sharma while Shibman Gill failed to make his place in the squad.
Currently, the Indian squad already has players like Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson who can open the batting if required as a backup opener.
